On June 25, 2007, then 16-year-old Heriberto Garcia brutally stabbed and murdered a 13-year-old gang rival. Although underage, he was tried as an adult and convicted in October of 2008 with a sentence of 15-years-to-life spent in state prison.
This year, on August 2, the California Supreme Court reviewed and upheld this conviction. Co-defendant Eva Daley, however, had a reversed second-degree murder conviction by the same 2nd District Court of Appeal panel.
