Crime in Los Angeles Down Almost 7% Since 2009
According to a report sent out by the Los Angeles Police Department, crime in the city of Los Angeles for 2010 has taken a significant dip since the numbers put out for 2009 and 2008. In fact, it is almost a full 7% lower than what it was previously.
This is for crimes across the board. For instance, homicide has 297 charges in 2010 whereas there was 314 in 2009 and 388 in 2008. That is a 23.5% drop in just two years. This trend continues for
rape, robbery, and aggravated assaults - violent crimes in general showing over a 20% decline since 2008.
Property crimes, like burglary, BTFV, auto theft and other theft, has shown a similar decline in numbers. Even arrests are down, as there have been almost 10% less arrests in 2010 than 2009.
Arrests, however, still happen and there are residents of the area that are continuing to face serious charges. If you are one of them, you do not have a moment to lose.
