LAPD Helicopter Allegedly Shot at on Easter Sunday
On Easter Sunday in Los Angeles, a teenager faced criminal charges and arrest after allegedly taking a semi-automatic rifle and randomly shooting in the area. After a LAPD helicopter came into the area to respond to the gunshot fires, the teenager took the weapon and allegedly began to fire at the police helicopter.
The fuel tank was hit and the pilot was forced to land the plane immediately at an airport, however, there are no reports of any injuries or deaths following the shooting. The suspect was apprehended by relatives and was then charged with attempted murder of a police officer.
After a tip was given to law enforcement relating to a possibility of a second shooter, there were several steps taken to apprehend the suspect. Following a seven hour search, which included an evacuation of a local building and the use of tear gas, there was no evidence to show for the existence of a second suspect.
