Woman Arrested for Allegedly Attempting Castration

In Palm Springs, California on December 3 on charges of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and spousal abuse. According to the police records, the women had attempted to cut off her long-time husband's genitals using a pair of scissors that were reported as looking like poultry shears.

The couple had been married for over three decades, but allegedly had a long-time internal dispute. It was unclear what caused the fight to boil over to the point of violence. The husband suffered no fatal injuries but was taken to the local hospital in an attempt to receive medical attention. The 69-year-old wife was taken to a local correctional facility and was released on $100,000 bail. She is to return to court in January of 2012.
