Uber Driver Accused of Sexual Assault in Laguna Beach

Okabe & Haushalter Nov 11, 2016 Sexual Assault

A Huntington Beach Uber driver has been arrested in Laguna Beach for the alleged sexual assault of one of his customers. The case is just the latest of many reports nationwide of ride-sharing drivers who have been accused of perpetrating crimes against their passengers.

As KTLA 5 reports, authorities now have 22-year-old Samer Mahran in custody. According to the victim, Mahran attacked her in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 5. Mahran then allegedly fled the scene.

The Laguna Beach Police Department worked directly with Uber to discover the identity of the driver. While the investigation is ongoing, Mahran is currently being held in the Orange County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
