Man Arrested In Lax For Drug Trafficking

Okabe & Haushalter Sep 26, 2011 Drug Offenses

It is being reported that a 21-year-old man, L.E., was arrested in the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Wednesday, September 21 after it was discovered that what appeared to be snack food bags contained anything but snacks.

The Compton, CA resident has been accused of attempting to smuggle methamphetamine, commonly known as meth, through the airport in the snack bags in his backpack. Officers from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered the controlled substance while scanning his bag and L.E. was taken into custody by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations later that day.

Allegedly, he was attempting to smuggle the contraband to a buyer in Japan for a payment of $6,000. It was estimated that the drugs would bring an estimated $200,000 on the streets of Japan. He is now facing criminal charges of possession with intent to distribute and is being held without bail. If convicted on his October 3 arraignment, he could face a maximum penalty of a life sentence.
