Did Suge Knight Pay for Witness Testimonies?

Okabe & Haushalter Mar 16, 2018 Criminal Defense

It would appear so, if the contents of an indictment unsealed on Monday, March 5 are anything to go by. According to the documents, after Suge Knight drove his truck into two men in Compton in 2015, his attorneys worked together to find a man who would provide the testimony they needed to clear Knight’s name, in return for payment. Two criminal defense attorneys who worked on Knight’s case, Matthew Fletcher and Thaddeus Culpepper, have now been charged with conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit subornation of perjury, conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice and serving as accessories after the fact. Culpepper also faces two additional conspiracy counts, while Fletcher faces one more perjury count.

No plea was entered by either attorney, with both released on their own recognizance, and arraignment set for March 16. Both criminal defense attorneys could be imprisoned for up to three years and eight months if found guilty of all charges brought against them.
