According to a report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman, a Sheriff’s Deputy shot a man who had been acting suspiciously in the El Monte area on the evening of Tuesday, May 8. Around 11.30 pm, the police officers, who had been driving in the region of Seaman Avenue and Giovane Street, noticed the man acting in an unexpected manner, and stopped the car to investigate further. When the two deputies shone their flashlights at the male and asked him to raise his hands, they spotted what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband. When the man drew the weapon, one of the deputies opened fire, shooting him once in the upper body.

After the incident, it was found that the man had been carrying a realistic pellet gun pistol, rather than an authentic firearm.
